This has been my longest "break" from my blog. Don't ask my why. I suppose we have just been so busy and maybe I just needed to focus on our life in Sydney for a while. So, to catch up I thought of posting some photos of what we have been up to since my last post.
We visited the Toronga Zoo with our friends Matt and Daniella. It is great to have an annual pass for the zoo. It is a beautiful zoo with some great views over the water toward the Sydney Opera house. This photo was taken in front of the seal pool.
This was something totally different. The Belrose Theatre invited all the kids to come and feed the dinosaurs. The kids were asked to leave the enclosed play area and the dinosaur used it as a cage. They had bags full of grass that the dinosaur pretended to eat. We had no idea what to expect and this "show" was amazing. Most of the kids under three (including Tasha) started to cry, especially when the one dinosaur tried to eat my hair.
It seems the only photos I have of myself is taken by a three or six year old. This time it was Tasha - not to bad for a three year old. We visited the Sydney Olympic Bicentennial park. Very nice. Will definitely go back sometime. Great cycling tracks all around the park. If you don't have a bicycle you can rent one there.
The Festival on the Green is an annual event were families just spend time together on the St Ives Green. There were people selling al kinds of stuff, a fire truck to climb on, a truck full of wood where little boys and dads could hammer and nail their creations together.
The kids had some free face painting at the local shopping centre. I wanted Kyle to also paint his face like Tasha, but at 6 he is definitely not into the "cute face thing" anymore. I did not want to wash their faces.....
This amazing spot is called West Head and it is about 20 minutes from our house. Absolutely beautiful. They have a picnic spot so next time we will be prepared.
This is madam with her first "french manicure". I just had to take a photo because I was pretty sure it would only look good for about 30 minutes. She makes such a cute photo, but can be a real terrorist!! I buy her hats from Pumpkin Patch. Lucky me found a Pumpkin Patch warehouse very close to our house - what a great find!
I took some photos of Tasha at her school (Alikats). She was extremely co-operative. In about 20 minutes or less I had photos of her playing outside, painting, making something with play-dough, building a puzzle, on a bicycle and even pretending to sleep on her little bed at school. I am sure I bribed her in some way.
Kyle had a SPOOKY DISCO at school. They make different times for the kids to go - based on their age. The Kindy's had their turn from 6 to 7 and a really wild guy (who must have been very tired at the end of the night) entertained them. Kyle even got on stage and did his "special moves" with two other kids that were selected. Lets just be kind and say the MOVES were interesting.....
Kyle turned 6 and we had this ARMY party at one of the local ovals. All the kids in his class as well as some of our special friends attended. We had a beautiful warm winters day! I made my first ever birthday cake (no home industry shops here and my mom and sister is also a bit far). I will NOT post a photo of the cake....and can just say that Kyle loved it (he loves me). ACTION MAN attended the party and made them run and play and hide. They had lots of fun.
On a Sunday drive close to a place called Church point.
Just another photo of Tasha. She got some gorgeous black boots in the mail (all the way from South Africa - from my sister) so it gave me a reason to take some photos. The black tracksuit is an All Black tracksuit.
Once a week I help with reading in Kyle's class. They ask the moms to help for an hour in the morning and half an hour in the afternoon. My day is Tuesday. It is such a great way to see what is going on in class and I really enjoy it. It is no problem to take Tasha and she just colours or reads a book while I am busy with the kids. Kyle wants me to work in the canteen as he is under the impression that if your mom works in the canteen you can get lots of stuff for free.....
This was a lovely day. We rented a (very small) boat at Bobbin Head, packed a picnic basket and spend some time on the water. Beautiful! Kyle saw some whales.....I am sure that we would be on the news if we really found whales at Bobbin Head (he also saw Superman flying over my car when he was a bit younger).
A little pig and a little girl. This was at the St Ives Annual Showground fare....or something like that. Can't remember. The showground is used for all kinds of interesting "things".
My friend Audrey (from South Africa) came to visit. On Friday night we took the train to Darling Harbour to look at some fireworks and the next day took a drive down to Church Point, Mona Vale, Warriewood and Dee Why. She was very impressed when se saw the Church point sign....thinking that they even have a special meeting point for people that want to go to church.
Audrey took this photo of us at Warriewood/MonaVale. This is one of my favourite spots on the northern beaches. That is it for now....so, not on any of the photos: jewelry and underwear parties, garage sales (still a big hit/favourite) lots of library visits and some morning tea with friends.
Now to find time to scrap all of the above!
